Black Bean Burger , Loaded Fries & "Hood" Donuts!!!!

Fly Eats Show Live Featured Joel Franklin Founder of Black Pepper Food Festival and so much more ! During our episode my Fly Eats included , a BOMB Black Bean Burger & Loaded Fries and he made "Hood" Donuts ! Check out the recipes below and our episode HERE.






Black Bean Burger

2 Cans Black Beans ( rinsed & drained )

1 Onion (finely chopped )

1 Green Pepper (finely chopped)

2 Tablespoon Garlic Powder

2 Tablespoon Paprika

Pepper Jack Cheese

2 Cups Mushrooms ( chopped )

1 egg

Pretzel Buns



Instructions :

  1. Drain and rinse black beans . Place beans on a sheet pan and bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.Allow the beans to cool for 5 minutes prior to mix ( this helps avoid your patty being too mushy when putting together.

  2. Chop onions , mushrooms and peppers

  3. In a large mixing bowl, mix beans, garlic powder, onions , peppers , paprika and egg

  4. Mix the contents well, smashing the beans but no so much where you lose the shape of some ! I just used my hands to mix thoroughly but you can use a fork or masher too!

  5. Scoop about 1/2 cup of the mixture and begin to shape patties

  6. Place patties on a baking sheet pan

  7. In a large frying pan , on medium heat , add oil ( about a cap full) and fry two patties at a time , cooking for 3 minutes on each side. *** You can definitely bake patties if you prefer at 375 degrees for 20 minutes***

  8. *** Optional Toppings*** Sautéed onions and mushrooms , Fresh Spinach , Pepper Jack Cheese

  9. Build your burger and go in !






Loaded Fries


Ingredients :


5 medium size potatoes

2 8oz Bags on Sharp Cheddar Cheese

1 cup Scallions (chopped )

1 cup Red Onions (chopped)

1 Ripe Avocado ( Pitted and chopped; homemade or pre package guac works too )

1 tomato

2 Tablespoons Sour Cream

1 medium size red onion (chopped)

1Tablespoon paprika

1Tablespoon onion powder

1 Tablespoon garlic powder

1 Tablespoon Kosher Salt

1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil


Instructions :


  1. Cut potatoes lengthwise.Thickness is up to you but I like my fries thick, steak fries style

  2. In a large mixing bowl , add cut potatoes with the garlic powder , onion powder , paprika, salt and oil. Mix well

  3. Place in an air fryer at 350-370 degrees for 20 minutes ( If you don't have an air fryer , baking in a oven works just the same . Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes .

  4. In a large baking dish begin to build your loaded fries. layer fries , cheese covering completely the cut potatoes , red onions

  5. Bake until cheese melts (about 15 minutes )

  6. Remove from oven and top with sour cream , avocado , chopped tomatoes

  7. Serve & Enjoy



Hood Donuts ! (No Pics :()


Ingredients

2 cups vegetable oil

1 can Pillsbury refrigerated biscuits

1/2 cup confetti sugar

1/4 Milk of choice



Instructions

1. In deep fryer or 2-quart heavy saucepan, heat oil over medium heat to 350°F. Separate dough into 8 biscuits. Using small round cookie cutter, cut hole in center of each biscuit.


2. Gently place 2 or 3 biscuits in hot oil. (Biscuit holes can also be fried!) Fry on one side until golden brown. Gently turn with tongs; fry until other side is golden brown. Place on cooling rack; cool 3 to 5 minutes.


3.Meanwhile, in small bowl, mix confetti sugar and milk of choice; place on plate. While doughnuts are still warm, add icing; turn to coat
